InteractiveBrokers, a leading electronic trading company (NASDAQ: IBKR), has just made a significant update to its Overnight Trading Hours service. This expansion now includes an extensive list of over 10,000 US stocks and ETFs, offering investors more opportunities and flexibility in their trading strategies.
Initially, InteractiveBrokers was among the pioneers to introduce Overnight Trading for US stocks and ETFs. This enhanced offering allows clients to engage in trading activities for an even wider range of US equities, almost around the clock, five days a week.
The expansion of this service is especially beneficial for clients in Asia and Europe, as it enables them to trade a more diverse selection of US equities during their local market hours. In addition to their own IBEOS Alternative Trading System (ATS) providing liquidity for Overnight Trading, InteractiveBrokers has also connected to the Blue Ocean ATS to further enhance trading options.
InteractiveBrokers' CEO, Milan Galik, highlighted the significance of Overnight Trading, stating, “Overnight Trading is an important service that helps our clients make timely trading decisions and capture investment opportunities around the clock. For those unfamiliar with trading hours, InteractiveBrokers offers regular market hours, extended hours, and now Overnight Trading Hours. These extended hours essentially allow clients to trade eligible US stocks and ETFs nearly 24 hours a day, five days a week. The specific Overnight Trading Hours are from 8:00 pm ET to 3:50 am ET, with the week's first session commencing on Sunday at 8:00 pm ET and concluding on Friday at 3:50 am ET. Notably, any trades executed between 8:00 p.m. ET and 12:00 a.m. ET will be dated for the following trade day.
